Spunky is a little dog that is smaller than the rest of his brothers and sisters. He can’t do the things they can do because of his size. He feels very sad and lonely. One day he meets Sarah, a tiny butterfly, who also is smaller than the other butterflies in her family. They become fast friends. For You children, this story teaches how even with differences, others will think that you’re special and will be your friend.
Maureen McGrath illustrated and wrote this story since age six. At her high school reunion a fellow classmate asked,”whatever happened to that little dog you used to draw?”. Maureen was happy someone had remembered. The author has written and illustrated this picture book with characters she has drawn since she was 6 years old.
