e-news letter 8 (New Year)

Hi to all our e-book authors,

I trust that everyone had a happy holiday season and that you were blessed with the presence of family and friends. We are thankful that each of you are part of our e-book family and we appreciate your business. Thank you!

The Christmas season is a great season for authors with e-books because one of the big sellers for gift items were the many different e-reading devices that are on the market. From iPads to Kindles and cell phones to tablets, more people than ever are going to be looking for content for their e-readers.

As one of our e-book authors, you are in a perfect place to take advantage of this surge of hungry readers around the world. As you already know, we have been and continue to work hard at creating an ever-larger footprint into the world-wide distribution of our e-titles. As we enter into 2014, we intend to grow that global presence even more through our foreign-rights partners.

All of our e-titles are made available to every new company we partner with around the world, so there is nothing extra you need to do as we work hard to get your title in as many places as possible.

Of course this is no guarantee of sales, and no matter how many outlets we get to carry your title, there is no substitution for good marketing of any given title. Take a moment to consider some of the gifts you may have purchased for loved ones this year during the holidays. How did you decide on buying those gifts? How many of them were you made aware of because of the TV, radio, or internet adds about them?

Companies like Apple and Amazon sold millions of e-readers because they spent millions of dollars on advertising their products so that people like you and I would buy them as gifts. That same principle applies to just about everything, including e-books. The truth is that getting your product (your e-book) in front of buyers is still the best way to sell more of them.

As I am sure you already know, there are many things you can do to promote your e-book that won’t cost you much more than your time. Things like blogging on sites that talk about new books, emailing everyone you have ever known about your e-book availability on Kindle and other sites, entering your title in writing contests, etc., are all excellent starts, but we also have a wide verity of marketing services available for you.

I know that after the holidays many of us are thinking about paying off those credit cards that we used for buying gifts and it is not a time we want to think about spending more money, but this is also the perfect time to catch the attention of those millions of people that got e-readers as gifts and they are looking for content for them. So, whether you do things that only require your time or you take advantage of our marketing services, now is the time to step above everyone else and do all you can to get your title in front of buyers.

Sometimes even getting out the next e-book in your series will help more buyers see you as it puts you back on the “New Releases” list again (for outlets that have them), which can also bring attention to your older title when buyers see it is the second or third one in the series and they search for the earlier releases. So, if you have been sitting on your next book, now is a good time to consider converting it to the e-formats. The “Hot” zone for catching those new e-reader owners is the first few months of the new year, while people are excited about their new devices, but the e-market continues to grow and the earlier you get into it, the longer you can ride that growth wave.
